MS-RTF is not supported even if the extension is ".doc". Microsoft WordML created in MS 2007 is not currently supported even if the file has been converted to a WordML 2003.

Office Server Document Converter V10.0 analyses the content created by Microsoft Word, and generates pages for print by simulating Word. Paper size, orientation and margins adopt the "Page Setup" of Word.
Paper size, margins, number of characters in a row, and number of rows in a page are addressed.

Common restrictions for doc (MS-Word 97-2003), docx (MS-Word 2007-/2021)

• Character spacing and line spacing might not be reproduced correctly.
• The line break position (the character that wraps the line) might differ from that of the original Word file output in Word. As a result, the number of lines in the document might differ from the number of lines in the original Word file output in Word.
• The page break position (the line that breaks the page) might differ from that of the original Word file output in Word. As a result, the total number of pages in the document might differ from the total number of pages in the original Word file output in Word.
• Asian typography treatment might not be reproduced correctly.
• Hyphenation will not be outputted.
• In MS Office, if the font specified for a character doesn't have a corresponding glyph, it might be substituted by another suitable font.These substitutions are not done with this product.
• Documents containing WMF/EMF that were created in earlier versions of MS Office 95, and saved again in later versions of MS Office 97, might not convert.
• Embedded and linked objects of OLE cannot be displayed, unless the display information is embedded in the document.
• A long character string of tens of thousands of characters without the linefeed (CRLF) might fail to convert.
• Object/text shadows and 3-D effects are not supported.
• Line Gradation in a figure is not supported.
• When an image is pasted and various effects are given, effects will be disregarded and the image will be outputted in the original color scheme.
• "Tight" and "Through" in Text Wrapping around an object are outputted as the same as "Square".
• Some line styles in character borders, column borders, tables, cells and page borders are not supported.
• Page border colors are not supported.
• The AutoFit function of a table is not fully supported.
• Balloons for Comments and Track Changes are not supported. They are converted without showing the balloon text.
• The position of a shape in a vertical writing document will not convert correctly.
• WordML files created with MS Office 2007/2010/2013/2016/2019/2021 saved in the compatibility mode as 2003 files are not supported.
• ActiveX controls cannot be displayed. (It might if the information for display is embedded in the document.)
• "Picture Styles" are not supported. Images will be outputted without the specified picture style.
• "Shadow", "Reflection", "Glow", "Soft Edges", "3-D Format", and "3-D Rotation" in the "Picture Effects" section are not supported. Images will be outputted without the specified picture effects.
• Only a single filled color is effective with "Text Effects" in the "Font" section; transparency will be ignored.
• Footnote reference characters might not convert correctly.
• Text box links are not supported.
• The position of shapes and other objects placed in columns or above anchors, and the text wrapping around those shapes and objects, might not convert correctly.
• The order of the shapes (Front/Back) might be swapped depending on the location of the shape anchor.
• Shape positions with anchors in table cells might be misaligned.
• Some of the transformed text in WordArt might not be reproduced.
• Image Control (Grayscale, Black and white and Washout) are not supported.
• Emphasis marks are not supported.
• When outputting Track Changes, strings that are not saved in a file as a text, such as paragraph numbering of a deleted paragraph are not supported.
• When outputting Track Changes, output of Track Changes inside formulas are not supported.
• When outputting Track Changes, markups for changed lines are not output for vertical writing sections.

Restrictions for doc (MS-Word 97-2003)

• If the setting of the Pages in the Page Setup is '2 pages per sheet', 'Mirror margins', 'Book fold' or 'Reverse book fold', the margins are not converted correctly. The order of the imposition of the book for the 'Book fold' and the 'Reverse book fold' is not correct.
• Vertical alignment (center, bottom) of text in a text box is not supported.
• "Widow/Orphan control", "Keep lines together" and "Keep with next" of the paragraph setting are not supported.
• Boundary lines of a column gap are not supported.
• Combined characters are outputted with standard letter size in one line.
• Character shading and borders in a text box are not supported.
• Cell spacing in a table is not supported.
• FirstSaved documents cannot be converted.
• Tate-chu-yoko (Horizontal-in-Vertical Settings) might not convert correctly.
• Outside borders of an image are not supported.
• Line numbers might not be converted correctly.

Restrictions for docx (MS-Word 2007-2021)

• Double-leaved printing and book in page settings are not supported.
• Ruby, combined letters (ligatures), tate-chu-yoko (Horizontal-in-Vertical Settings), etc. inserted by the EQ field might not convert correctly.
• Line numbers are not supported.
• [Format Text Effects] and [Format Shape]
  • When you select [Gradient fill] - [Type - Path] in the Format Shape dialog in Office2007/2010/2013/2016/2019/2021(Word,Excel,Powerpoint), the converted result shows the same as when you select [Gradient fill] - [Type - Rectangular].
  • When you specify [Gradient fill] - [Transparency] in Office2007/2010/2013/2016/2019/2021(Word,Excel,Powerpoint), it will be ignored and the converted result shows only as 0%.
  • When you specify [Gradient fill] - [Rotate with shape] in Office2007/2010/2013/2016/2019/2021(Word,Excel,Powerpoint), it will be ignored and the converted result shows the same as when it is unchecked.
  • When you specify [Picture or texture fill] - [Tiling Option] in Office2007/2010/2013/2016/2019/2021(Word,Excel,Powerpoint), all settings of the option will be ignored and converted as [Scale X : 100%] and [Scale Y : 100%]
  • When you specify [Picture or texture fill] and a picture is specified, the shape of the picture will be replaced with a rectangle.
  • The specification of [Slide background fill] will be ignored.
  • [3-D Format] and [3-D Rotation] are not supported. They are converted as if they were not specified.
  • When you specify [Text Box] - [Autofit], the size of the text may not be reproduced correctly.
  • [Picture or texture fill] and [Gradient fill] specified for filling color of text are disregarded.
  • All the specifications for Text Outline are disregarded.
• The size and attributes of math equations may not convert correctly.
• The arrangement of shapes and characters, attributes in [SmartArt] may not convert correctly.
• Shapes and attributes (such as Cap type) added in Office 2007-2021 may not convert accurately.
• When a figure is specified to be rotated or cropped, the Flip (reversal of right to left or the top to bottom) feature is disregarded.
• When an image is specified as the background of a figure, even if rotation is specified, the background image will not rotate.
• Transparency in a figure is disregarded.
• Stylized text created by Office 2007/2010/2013/2016/2019/2021 WordArt might not be outputted correctly.
• When an image is pasted on a figure, even if rotation is specified to the figure, the image will not rotate.
• When [Picture fill] and an image are simultaneously specified as the background of a figure, only the image becomes effective.
• ActiveX controls cannot be displayed. (If the information for display is embedded in the document, it might display.)
• Images created using [Draw] - [Pen] Gallery added in Office 2019 will be output as substitute images. Line color, line thickness, size, etc. may be different from Office display.

• Files with access restrictions set due to rights issues cannot be converted.
