8 Conformance 適合性

In this section the key words "MUST", "MUST NOT", "REQUIRED", "SHALL", "SHALL NOT", "SHOULD", "SHOULD NOT", "RECOMMENDED", "MAY", and "OPTIONAL" are to be interpreted as described in [RFC2119]. この節この箇条では，キーワードの“MUST”（しなければならない），“MUST NOT”（してはならない），“REQUIRED”（必須の），“SHALL”（しなければならない），“SHALL NOT”（してはならない），“SHOULD”（することが望ましい），“SHOULD NOT”（しないことが望ましい），“RECOMMENDED”（推奨される），“MAY”（してもよい），及び“OPTIONAL”（オプションの）は，RFC2119 に示されるとおりに解釈される。

This specification defines three levels of conformance, in order of completeness: この規定は，適合性の三つの水準を，完全性の順序に定義する。

Basic基本

includes the set of formatting objects and properties needed to support a minimum level of pagination or aural rendering. ページ付け又は聴覚レンダリングの最低水準に対応するために，必要なフォーマット化オブジェクト及び特性の集合を含む。

Extended拡張

Conformance to this specification is expressed in terms of conformance to any of the above levels. この規定への適合性は，これらの水準のいずれかへの適合性によって表現される。

An application that claims conformance to a given level of this specification must implement all the formatting objects and properties that apply to it for a given medium. この規定の与えられた水準への適合性を主張するアプリケーションは，与えられたメディアに関してそれに適用されるすべてのフォーマット化オブジェクト及び特性を実装しなければならない。

BA Formatting Object Summary specifies which formatting objects belong to each of the above levels, and for what medium. BA フォーマット化オブジェクトの概要 は，どのフォーマット化オブジェクトがこれらの水準のそれぞれに属するか，及びどのメディアに対するかを指定する。

The minimum level of conformance is Basic. 適合性の最低水準は，基本水準である。 A minimally conformant implementation must process as specified all the formatting objects and properties defined for the Basic level of the implementation's target medium. 最小適合の実装は，実装対象メディアの基本水準に対して定義されるすべてのフォーマット化オブジェクト及び特性を，指定したとおりに処理しなければならない。
