Antenna House XSL Formatter Overview
This software transforms XML documents into XSL Formatting Objects (XSL-FO) by using XSL stylesheet, formats the accomplished XSL-FO on Windows sreen, and outputs it to Windows printer.
This product is based on Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) Version 1.0 W3C Candidate Recommendation.
Function
- Formatting Based on XSL Specification
XSL specification becomes the focus of public attention for its ability to display and print XML documents clearly.
This product took the initiative in formatting XML documents based on XSL specification.
You can print XML files to papers per page by using powerful formatting function.
- One Source Multiple Use
You can make multiple outputs that are generated from a single XML content by changing XSL Stylesheets.
- Page Formatting
XSLT is currently most often used to transform XML documents into HTML documents and to display them on the web browser.
In this way, it may cause the issue that the display may be different on each browser. In addition, as HTML has no concept of pages, effective stylings cannot be achieved when formatted results are printed per page.
While XSL-FO has a concept of pages, it is possible to output effective stylings on each page.
- Various Integration Interface
XSL Formatter has various integration interfaces
such as COM, comandline. Integraition interfaces make it possible to achieve automatical formatting or batch formatting. In addition, these interfaces can be used from the program running on the server.(Server license is necessary)
Mechanism of Display and Print
- XML documents are transformed into XSL-FO (Formatting Objects) according to the rules described in the XSL stylesheets.
- XSL Formatter interprets the XSL-FO and render the content to paper or screen.
XML to XSL-FO Transformation
- XSLT processor is generally used to transform XML documents into XSL-FO. XSL Formatter uses Microsoft XML Parser Version 3.0. XSL-FO which transformed by other XSLT processor or created without using XSLT processor also can be formatted.

- This product is based on Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) Version 1.0 W3C Candidate Recommedation 21 November 2000.
